How do I make Dill Doughs™?
Making Dill Doughs™ is easy and fun! All you need to do is mix the package contents with one or two simple liquids (we mean really simple; soda pop, beer, water etc) according to the directions. No bread machine, no bulky stand mixer and no tiresome kneading. Before you know it your tasty homemade bread will be ready to enjoy! Can I freeze Dill Doughs™?
Yes you can freeze your loaf of bread as you would any fresh bread.
What is the shelf life of Dill Doughs™ bread mix if kept in the original package?
Our Dill Doughs™ bread mix can be kept at room temperature in a sealed package for up to 9 months. They are best kept out of direct sunlight. If you decide to store the mix in the refrigerator, the shelf life will increase up to 12 months. We do recommend eating it within a week of baking it or freeze it after that period because there are no preservatives added. They are best kept out of direct sunlight.
Do you have any tips or tricks for using Dill Doughs™?
We definitely do! Our mixes are designed to be easy to use, but there are a few tips and tricks that can help you get the most out of your baking experience. For best results, we recommend preheating your oven before adding the mix to the pan. This will ensure that your bread bakes evenly and rises properly. Additionally, we suggest using liquids (soda pop, beer, water) at room temperature when mixing with the dry ingredients. Add melted butter on top of your bread dough BEFORE you bake the bread, makes for an extra touch of flavor and moisture. (Note: not all mixes require extra butter on top, if suggested it will be stated on the packaging.) Some doughs require a loaf pan, others require you shape the dough and use a sheet pan. These simple tips will help you get the perfect loaf every time!
Is my Italian loaf okay? It did not rise very high.
Yes. The Italian (and the Italian Herb and Garlic) loaf is like a traditional Ciabatta bread. It is a low rise loaf. After its initial overnight rise, it will be a bubbly, sticky mess! Flour up your hands and countertop or baking sheet really well. If it is super "runny" sprinkle some all purpose flour on top and roll it as best you can into a log. Shape, sprinkle with flour and let rise the final 2 hours. *** Relative humidity will affect the rise. Indoor humidity should be between 30-60%.
